The sacred duty of descendants is to visit graves of ancestors, care for it and pray for deceased. Unfortunately, on our land, in Volyn region there are a lot of grave sites and cemeteries where nobody ever comes and where those people rest for whom nobody prays.

That is why as part of the project "Memory" for already five years the members and friends of our community, both adults and children have been visiting places of the mass shooting and the old Jewish cemeteries for cleaning. This year we have cleaned the PMS in Liubeshov and Sudche (2 places), and also the old Jewish cemetery in Liubeshov. Both kids and adults have been working. At the old Jewish cemetery we have cleaned old matzevahs from moss and grass, painted it, gathered and carried out the garbage, cut off brushes, created an earthen hill and placed an information plate. At the places of shooting we have cleaned the space, changed old fences and painted it, levelled sunken places, placed memorial plates.

The life of our tent city was interesting and exciting. Kids helped to cook food, wash up, all were enjoying meals cooked with fire. So pleasant was swimming in pure limpid water of the river Stokhyd and evening gatherings by the fireplace. And even the weather that sometimes disappointed us was excellent. We met Shabbat; the Havdalah and the greeting "Shavuah Tov" boosted energy for a whole week.

Before leaving, we visited all the places we had cleaned. We were told life stories and tragedies of Jews in those areas. We commemorated killed and dead with a prayer.

We hope and believe that the project "Memory" will continue next year. We thank everyone who helped in the project realization, the members and all who supported with funds. Thank you!!!!!
