Memory. Lyuboml community.
Memory. Lyuboml community.
On Sunday, November 14, 2016, was the opening of information and commemorative plates on the site where was the Great Synagogue Lyuboml. The opening was attended by a delegation of our community, historians and local residents. Unfortunately, this beautiful building has not been preserved. But have survived paintings, pictures of the synagogue. And most importantly, it keeps the memory of the place where the Jews came to pray. In the early 40-ies of XX century there were about 8 thousand Jews in Lyuboml . The opening of a commemorative plate - a tribute not to the building, it is a tribute to all those who died in the Holocaust, to the whole jewish community of the town. At the opening were local historians, who spoke about the history of Liuboml Jews about the synagogue, about pre-war Jewish life. But most of all worried Boris Karp - because for him Liuboml - is his native city, where he spent his childhood and where were born his ancestors. A large extent, precisely because of the family of Karp - Boris Natanovich and Larisa Trofimovna such an event took place. We thank the representatives of the local authorities, who went to meet our project, not only to establish the plate, but also to ennoble the surrounding area. Our further plans for production and placement in this place banners with photographs of synagogue its interior decoration and the life of the Jewish community before the war. It is, especially important for residents Liuboml who need to know and remember the history of their city.
After the opening ceremony we visited village Borki, a place of execution of Jews in October 1942. Honored the memory innocent tortured, read the Kaddish memorial ...
