"Memory" - 2017. Kovel. Matsevot.

On 22 October 2017, within the framework of the project “Memory” the second ride of our volunteers to Kovel was held.
It was a work of clearing, fetch, storage and recording of matsevot from old Jewish cemetery (that were raised from under the asphalt on the territory of the former military unit). We worked together smoothly. Each of us (not too much, not too little 16 persons) fulfilled its obligations. Someone carried small fragments, someone cleaned matsevot of dust and dirt, someone fixed pallets, someone stored, someone cooked…
And through our teamwork we were able to clear all matzevas raised from under the asphalt, but that still left.
It was do very hard work. But it was very interesting, because picking up and turning over another tombstone, we sort of discovered the history of persone, we solved symbols and signs, read inscriptions where possible.
It was especially interesting for our youth!
