Lag B'Omer holiday by going out on scenery

It has become a great tradition of many years to observe the Lag B'Omer holiday by going out on scenery. But this year the holiday turned out to be a special one! As we met together not only to remember the history, shoot with arrows and have fun in the sun. At that time, a whole performance took place, namely the staging of the Bar Kochba revolt, one of the battles of the Jews and the Romans.

Everyone who wanted to take part was preparing to the holiday - someone was cutting and sewing costumes, someone was making helmets and shields, someone was making lances, swords and bows.
So the preparations ended and the holiday got started. At first we listened to the story (historical background) about the Bar Kochba revolt, the revolt of the Jews against the Romans while Hadrian being an emperor, in AD 131-135 under the leadership of Shimon Bar-Kokhba. That was one of the most important events in the history of the Jewry, in fact final, named "the period of the second Holy Temple". It was an attempt of regaining the Jewish independence that unfortunately failed.
Then the performance participants (children, adults and "very adults") divided into two teams - "the Romans" and "the Jews". The small " military-training courses" were held for correct using of "weapons" - bows and sword, also shields and everything that was in hands.
So the battle got started! It was held with such an excitement. Both "the Romans" and "the Jews" were fighting only for the victory! Frankly speaking, we got some tricky and decided to correct the historical injustice. "The Jews" won our battle! What happy the winners were! How believed the losers "fell"!
A sea of impressions, excitement, joy and laughter!!!
Later anyone who wanted could shoot with an arrow, "fight" with swords and lances. Both "the Romans" and "the Jews" were lighting a fire, baking potatoes that seemed the most delicious food in the open air.
The holiday worked well!
Thank you to all the participants and everyone who supported our project.

That is what the participants write:
It was a wonderful spring Sunday and again we met together with our merry and friendly company on scenery to observe the Lag B'Omer holiday. It was pleasant that that day brought together different age groups, from the smallest to the eternally young. We tried to recreate the battle between the Romans and the Jews. The special atmosphere was provided by the costumes. Both kids and adults rushed in the fight enthusiastically. Swords and armour against bows and arrows. In this battle the Jews won. We were playing, having fun, remembering the holiday history and traditions. There also was a warm camp fire and a tasty feast with sincere talks. Thank you to everyone who spent with us that wonderful May day. We look forward to the further meetings!!!
